The APX700II-12 features Yamaha's specially designed X-brace pattern which reinforces the guitar's overall structure and prevents it from collapsing under string tension. This specially design bracing enables the guitar's top to really sing and boosts the resonance of this unique body, offering a full sounding natural tone that is not to be underestimated.
The Yamaha APX700II-12 features a solid spruce top that yields crisp articulation and delivers a broad dynamic range. Spruce is commonly used to construct guitar tops as the wood generates a versatile tonality that accommodates numerous techniques from more aggressive strumming patterns to fingerpicking styles. Being quite elastic in nature the APX700II-12's solid spruce top resonates well, whilst remaining strong to deliver a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm mid-range, and bright sparkling highs. The versatile solid spruce top is coupled with nato back and sides which offer a similar tonal character and appearance to mahogany, producing a rich warm resonance that responds greatly to numerous styles of play.
With a neck constructed from nato, the Yamaha APX700II-12 provides players with a rich warm sound that responds massively well to many different styles of play, from blues players that use a glass or metal slide, to light fingerpicking stylists, as well as players with a more aggressive strumming pattern. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that adds a warm, bright, sizzling-sparkle to the overall sound. Its rosewood fingerboard also offers players a smooth and energetic playing experience and is sprinkled with white dot inlays for a classic yet sophisticated appearance.
The Yamaha APX700II-12 features Yamaha's AXP Thinline body with a cutaway profile, combining comfort, easy access to upper frets, and a tonal character that is ideal for stage performance. With an AXP Thinline body, the Yamaha APX700II-12 delivers bright clear mids, well-balanced highs, and controlled lows with great dynamics, sensitivity, and superb clarity. Its Thinline body also provides comfort due to its slimmer depth and compact size, as well as reducing the likeliness of undesirable feedback when plugged in. For added comfort the Yamaha APX700II-12 features a cutaway profile that promotes the access to upper the fingerboard, making it easy to reach challenging chords, enabling players to perform more technical abilities. The Yamaha APX700II-12 also has a APX oval soundhole which thickens its lower to mind response and delivers an open low end, offering both great projection and volume as well as an instantly recognisable appearance.
The Yamaha APX700II-12 comes equipped with a System 64 preamp, which has been recently developed and designed by the guitar team at Yamaha, making it ideal for live and rehearsal environments. Its 1-way system has two pickups mounted inside of the guitar underneath the saddle, offering a powerful, authentic acoustic tone. The System 64 preamp is powered by AA sized batteries, and offers the convenience of an on-board tuner, offering precise and easy tuning with a 3-band EQ.
The Yamaha APX700II-12 features this special A.R.T technology which is an innovative system that has four contact microphones situated in the sweet spots of the guitar's bridge, creating a 3-way system with individual controls for bass and treble. The incredible A.R.T technology dampens vibration from the guitar top whilst picking up resonance to deliver the perfect sensitivity and dynamic balance. This sophisticated system focuses on the areas of the guitar top that define the guitar's sound, offering superb amplified sound that is sure to impress crowds.
