PRS HOLLOWBODY GUITARS

With brilliant acoustics and a vast array of tones, the Hollowbody II has been a constant favorite in our dynamic lineup of hollow instruments. The combination of the maple top and back with mahogany sides provides tonal clarity and extraordinary resonance.

The LR Baggs/PRS Piezo System comes standard,

providing musicians with the versatility of wielding both acoustic and electric guitar tones in one instrument. There are two output jacks on the Hollowbody II Piezo, allowing guitarists to plug into their favorite electric guitar or acoustic guitar amp or DI into a soundboard. By utilizing the separate blend control, the tone of the Hollowbody II Piezo's 58/15 LT pickups can also be combined with acoustic sounds through a single output.

Hollowbody electric guitars excel in delivering a rich, organic sound that's perfect for genres where warmth and resonance are key. Picture the smooth, buttery tones of jazz standards, the twangy textures of blues licks, or the vintage charm of rockabilly riffs—hollowbody guitars can handle them all with finesse. Additionally, their acoustic-like qualities make them great for unplugged practice sessions or intimate performances. While they might not be the first choice for heavy distortion or extreme metal, hollowbody guitars offer a unique sonic palette that's beloved by many musicians.

What's the difference between hollow body and solid body?

he primary distinction between hollow body and solid body guitars lies in their construction. Hollow body guitars, as the name suggests, feature a hollow chamber inside their bodies, similar to an acoustic guitar. This design allows the sound to resonate freely, resulting in a warmer, more rounded tone with plenty of natural sustain. On the other hand, solid body guitars have, well, solid bodies—no empty chambers inside. This construction lends them a brighter, more focused sound, making them well-suited for genres that require clarity and punch, such as rock and metal. Additionally, solid body guitars are generally lighter and less prone to feedback at high volumes compared to their hollow counterparts.
