The cornerstone of the Limited Edition collection is the rare and beautiful Bois De Rose, a true Rosewood from Madagascar, used on a very limited number of 50 series guitars. Bois De Rose (Dalbergia maritima), otherwise known as Maritima Rosewood, is French for Rosewood. Indigenous to Madagascar, this rare wood has often been recognized as the ‘King of Madagascar Rosewoods’ with great bell like glassy tones.

George Lowden had this to say about this wood: “While visiting one of our suppliers, a single back was sitting alone on a large table we walked passed and it immediately caught our attention. It’s a truly stunning wood, we’d never seen anything like it. The tap tone of the backs is superb. Similar to other species such as Brazilian, Cocobolo and Guatemalan Rosewood. Its distinctive rose to deep purple color is immediately striking.”

In 1974 George Lowden started designing and handmaking his guitars in County Down, Ireland where they are still built today.
