A Tribute to Bowies Favourite Guitar

The Supro David Bowie Dual Tone pays tribute to one of Bowie's favourite guitars from his whole career. While the main difference between this replica and Bowies original guitar is its minor improvements to accommodate today’s musicians, this Limited Edition Supro features everything that made the original so unique, from its Bigsby vibrato to the multi-coloured rainbow pattern inlays on the top 5 frets.

Vintage-Correct Supra Vistatone Pickups

The Limited-Edition Dual Tone guitar features a set of Supro’s powerful Vistatone pickups, offering the same stunning tones Bowie fell in love with. The Vistatone pickups are a reproduction of the ground-breaking single-coils developed by Ralph Keller in the early 50s, offering a classic and highly-desired sound. Their huge, fat tone is ideal for driving your sound to new heights, working well with fuzz pedals and overdrive tube amps. The bridge pickup offers a slightly hotter wind than the neck pickup, providing a beautifully balanced soundscape when used together. The neck Vistatone also features a reverse wind construction, providing a hum free operation when combined with the bridge.

Solid Alder Body

Alder is favoured by most players for its incredibly balanced tone, offering the perfect dynamic range to suit most musical styles. This alder body is perfect for a variety of playing styles, as its excellent sustain and resonance ensures each note is heard. Its bright, sizzling highs, rounded lows, and beefy midrange sets up the foundation of the guitar's overall tonality, allowing players to achieve the perfect sound for most situations.

Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard

The Supro Dual Tone Guitar features a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, delivering beautifully bright, warm soundscapes. The maple offers roundness to the tone, providing bright characteristics and an excellent amount of sustain. The rosewood offers sweetness to the tone, smoothing it out and furring up the harsh edges of the maple. The maple and rosewood combination creates a sparkling, sizzling high-end, an open midrange with a snappy attack, and a thick, firm low-end.

Bigsby Vibrato & Roller Bridge

When David Bowie first bought his early 60’s Supro Dual Guitar in 2003, he sent it to master luthier Flip Scipio to modify it with a Bigsby Vibrato tailpiece. This Limited-Edition model is also equipped with a classic Bisgby Vibrato to pay tribute to the original, offering classic sounding pitch bends which are evenly spread across all the strings. The smooth tremolo system can be used to create subtle movements in chords, adding extra depth and texture to your sound, or infuse your tone with sudden pitch shifts for extra tonal versatility. The modern roller bridge enhances this guitar's string stability and sustain, delivering an improved performance suitable for today’s artists.
