The Gretsch G5220 Electromatic Jet BT Single-Cut Electric Guitar is an affordable gig-ready model that delivers power and versatility by the bucket load. Equipped with Broad'Tron pickups and a steadfast V-stoptail, you can rest assured that the G5220 is ready to go night after night in classic Jet style.
The G5220 may look sleek and stylish, but at its heart it is an absolute tank. The body is built using mahogany to a chambered design, which establishes a confident mid-range energy with a rumbling low-end. Paired with this is a laminated maple top, which cuts through with shimmering highs of the utmost clarity. Thanks to the laminated design, the body holds up well with regard to changes in humidity and temperature, making it an excellent model for touring with. The body finish is accentuated by the white binding with black/white purfling, whilst the silver plexi pickguard with black Gretsch logo works alongside the chrome finished hardware to complete the look.
Fitted to the body is a fast playing mahogany neck, which benefits from a thin "U" profile that sits comfortably in the hand. The 24.6-inch scale length promotes warm, thicker sounding notes, whilst the white binding affords a seamless feel along the neck. Married to the neck is a sumptuous black walnut fingerboard, with 22 medium jumbo frets decorated with pearloid big block inlays to act as a bold navigational aid. The flatter 12-inch radius make it comfortable to fret chords or sail along swiftly, whilst the single-cutaway body profile allows the highest frets to be reached with ease.
The G5220 Electromatic is kitted out with a pair of Black Top Broad'Tron pickups, which are designed to maximise the tonal potential of the chambered mahogany and maple top. The result ranges from thick, uncompromising chunkiness where the subtle nuances of your playing style are captured and translated with pristine clarity. From laid back country to all-out anarchic punk, the G5220 can do it all, and does it in style. Control comes in the form of G-Arrow control knobs with independent volume knobs for the neck and bridge pickups, and a master tone pot.
For an unfussy performance, the G5220 is equipped with rock-solid hardware throughout. The headstock is home to diecast tuning machines with round buttons for meticulous tuning integrity. The body is fitted with an anchored adjusto-matic bridge with "V"-shape stoptail, which creates a steadfast anchor point for each string to optimise intonation and sustain.
