The MusicStreet Setup Advantage: Why Your PRS Core Deserves It
Paul Reed Smith Core and Studio guitars are built with uncompromising attention to detail in the USA, featuring flawless quality control. However, because these instruments are crafted from real, highly responsive solid tonewoods and finished in thin, breathable nitrocellulose lacquer, they naturally breathe and shift during transit. Changes in temperature, humidity, and string tension during their journey to our showroom can cause subtle shifts in neck relief, saddle heights, and pickup balance.
At MusicStreet, we treat every PRS Core with the utmost care. We perform a **complimentary £75 professional workshop setup** on every single PRS Core and Studio guitar we sell. Our expert luthiers adjust the truss rod, file the nut slots to prevent string binding, set the bridge height and saddle radius for a comfortable low action, set the intonation, and polish the frets to ensure your new instrument plays flawlessly straight out of the box.

Frequently Asked Questions About PRS Core & Studio Guitars
What makes PRS Core guitars different from SE and S2 models?
+
PRS Core guitars represent the absolute pinnacle of Paul Reed Smith's production line. Handcrafted in Maryland, USA, they feature premium, highly figured tonewoods, intricate violin body carves, proprietary US-made hardware (like the Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners), custom-wound US pickups, and a thin, breathable nitrocellulose finish. SE models are built in Asia to offer high value, while S2 models are built in the USA with streamlined body carves and import-grade electronics.
What is included in your £75 professional setup?
+
Our expert in-house technicians perform a complete multi-point inspection. This includes adjusting the neck relief (truss rod), setting the optimal string action (height) at both the nut and bridge saddles, setting the intonation, cleaning and conditioning the fretboard, polishing the frets, checking all electronics/pots, and installing a fresh set of premium strings.
What is the tonal versatility of the PRS Studio model?
+
The **PRS Studio** is one of the most tonally versatile guitars in the lineup. It features a traditional humbucker in the bridge and two proprietary Narrowfield pickups in the middle and neck positions. Narrowfield pickups deliver the punch and hum-canceling performance of a humbucker with the clarity, bite, and chime of a single-coil, allowing you to dial in everything from classic single-coil scoop to thick, high-gain rock tones.
Can I trade in my old gear toward a purchase?
+
Absolutely. We offer a highly competitive part-exchange program. You can bring your gear directly to our Huntingdon showroom for an on-the-spot valuation, or contact us online with photos and details to receive a preliminary trade-in estimate.

The secret to the Core series' legendary reputation lies in its uncompromising design features:
-
Exquisite 10-Tops: PRS's legendary "10-Top" designation is reserved for maple tops that have a complete, flawless figure across the entire top with no dead spots. These tops are finished in gorgeous, hand-rubbed nitrocellulose lacquer that showcases the wood's natural depth.
-
The Iconic Bird Inlays: A hallmark of PRS design. Crafted from premium materials like mother of pearl and abalone, the bird inlays are hand-installed on smooth rosewood or ebony fingerboards.
